Belgrade Taxis

Tourists in Belgrade are advised to use the taxi. They are cheap and safe, and can be hailed in the street. The price chargeable is calculated according to the distance travelled but will also include (if appropriate) a waiting fee. It is customary to give a tip of ten per cent, depending on the level of satisfaction.

Taxi services in Belgrade are provided by cars of varying colours, but they must all carry a blue city taxi sign on the roof as well as the designation of their taxi company.

The passenger is only required to pay for taxi services according to the current price list and to the amount indicated by the taxi meter at the end of the journey. Negotiating a price for taxi services, where the taxi meter is not switched on, is not recommended, especially at the airport.

Taxi fares (in dinars):
Service
Tariff 1
Tariff 2
Tariff 3
Start 80 80 80
Price per km 40 52 80
Waiting per hour 400 400 400

The price includes transport of passenger's personal luggage. Personal baggage includes travel bags and suitcases not exceeding 20 kg in weight per passenger and 50 kg in total, in the event that there are several passengers.

The second tariff is charged: between 10 pm and 6 am, on Sundays and national holidays. The first and second tariffs apply for the city area and the third tariff applies past the determined points in areas outside the city that are named in the price list in possession of every taxi driver.

Important: There are so many unlicensed taxi drivers around main bus and railway station trying to wheedle you to use their service. Immediately, when you step out from a train or bus they will surround you and try to "push" you in their car. They don't have price list and they are negotiated with you for a price. And if you accept that, be sure that you will pay more then you used regular one. So ensure that you pick a licensed taxi, which has two plates on the roof. One is normal "Taxi" plate and the other one is a small blue sign featuring the city's coat of arms and a number.

We advise you to take a look at the Belgrade taxi address book.
